Fore The Cup is an app for running golf tournaments. This page describes exactly what it stores, why, and who else sees it. It describes the app as built, not a generic template.
What we store
Your account. Your email address, the display name you choose, and a one-way hash of your password. We never store the password itself.
Guest accounts. If you continue as a guest we create a real account tied to a random identifier generated on your device. It is not your device's serial number, advertising id, or anything Apple or Google assigns. It exists so that reopening the app returns you to the same guest account instead of a new one. Guest accounts have a generated internal email address that is never shown or used to contact you.
Sign in with Apple or Google. If you use one, we store the identifier that provider gives us and the email address they share, so we can recognise you next time.
Tournament data. Tournament names, invite codes, team and player names, any handicaps entered, hole-by-hole scores, and which account entered each score. That last one exists because scoring disputes are normal in golf and "who wrote this down" cannot be reconstructed after the fact.
Subscription status. Whether you have an active subscription, which plan, when it expires, and an identifier from the payment processor. Card numbers never reach us - payments are handled entirely by Apple or by our payment processor.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your data.
- We do not use advertising identifiers or run third-party ad tracking.
- We do not track your location. Course search sends the text you type, not where you are.
Who else is involved
- Railway hosts the servers and database.
- Netlify hosts the web version of the app.
- OpenGolfAPI provides course scorecards. When you search for a course we send the text you typed. We do not send anything about you.
- Apple and Google, if you choose to sign in with them.
- Apple and RevenueCat process subscriptions and tell us whether yours is active.
Who can see your tournament
Anyone with a tournament's invite code can see its leaderboard, teams, players and scores. That is the point of an invite code - treat it like the link to a shared document, and only give it to people you want watching. Handicaps entered for a player are visible to anyone in that tournament.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from inside the app at any time: Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and personal details. Tournaments you created continue to exist for the people still playing in them, but are no longer linked to you. See deleting your account for the full detail.
Children
Fore The Cup is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update this page and the date at the top.
